John Garland, President of Garland IP Services, has 30 years of experience as a Licensing Executive with worldwide transaction experience including patent licensing, technology licensing, joint ventures, strategic alliances, spin-offs, technology acquisition, and experience in assisting clients on IP strategy, as well as strategic patent acquisitions and divestitures. John has worked in large corporations and in the start-up environment as an IP professional.
Significant accomplishments and current endeavors include licensing globally within cybersecurity industry (generating >$160M in negotiated deals over 4 years); implemented and leading a licensing campaign for advanced image and video stabilization techniques versus smartphone and (DSC) camera/camcorder manufacturers; licensing agent for leading publicly traded corporation (3G, 4G, 5G, WiFi and video compression standards, etc.) for smartphones, consumer electronic devices, connected cars, and OTT streaming servcies. Additionally, worked with an IP incubator licensing inventions directed toward video game hardware and software industry, and an IP Holding company that developed a high-quality, global patent estate for smart home automation systems, e-commerce including retail/targeted advertising, cloud storage, and network/application security.
